Icom R8500

r8500

To equip the Icom R8500 with a discriminator output, your soldering iron can remain cold. By repositioning a jumper, the unfiltered baseband audio becomes available from the AGC connector at the back of the receiver.

Jumper position

By removing the receiver's upper lid, the jumper becomes visible. In an unmodified receiver, this jumper connects the moddle and right pin of the jumper block. If you reposition the jumper to the left, the AGC cinch connector is connected to the receiver's discriminator ('AF direct detector output').

By the way, this 'operation' is also described on page 16 of the receiver's user manual.
